Homeless Shelter Volunteers
In the winter of 2007, area churches joined together to meet the need of a growing population of homeless women and children in Santa Fe by hosting these individuals in their parishes for two weeks at a time. The Church of the Holy Faith was part of that effort, and in 2008 Father Kenneth Semon joined the Interfaith Coalition Shelter (ICS) Group working to find a building to house those needing shelter through the winter.
The ICS Group was able to find a large temporary facility and, once again, members of area religious institutions including, Holy Faith, volunteered their time to help with intake, brought and served meals, and offered hospitality to women, children and men living on the streets.
The ICS Group continues to seek a permanent facility large enough to provide overnight shelter as well as other services to Santa Fe's homeless population. If you would like more information on their efforts, please contact Father Semon at 982-4447, ext. 101.
Crisis Outreach
In 2007, the Faith at Work crisis outreach program, originally a ministry of the Church of the Holy Faith, became an independent charitable organization. Holy Faith continues to support the excellent work of this outreach through financial funding, and provides an area to drop donations for the outreach as well as information in our newsletter and Website. Administrator Angela Merkert oversees this program, which offers assistance to those who need help with rent, utilities, medical bills, school supplies, groceries, etc. Donations of food, clothing, and household items are always welcome, as are volunteers to help greet clients, process paper work, and sort donations. You can contact Angela at 471-6323.
